Rape Awareness Week - 4 May-10 May 2009
Rape Awareness Week is from Monday 4 May until Sunday 10 May.
This year our aim was to promote our services of "Support and Healing" for women and children who have been affected by rape and/or sexual abuse, whether it be historic or current.
On Monday 4 May from 5.00pm until 7.00pm we had an "Open Night" at the Women's Centre at 44 Trafalgar Street, Nelson. We talked and answered questions about our services and Hon. Annette King, MP was our guest speaker. Drinks and nibbles were available as was a raffle. We were very excited about this and had a great response for this informative evening.
We also had tin rattling during the week from Monday 4 May until Friday 8 May, at the Richmond Mall outside the Farmers entrance. Information was also be available for the public.
On Wednesday 6 May we went to NMIT, and worked along side SANITI (the student association) in promoting our services to students.
