Nelson Rape and Sexual Abuse Network

Whare Wahine - Nelson Rape Crisis

The Nelson Rape and Sexual Abuse Network was established approximately 25 years ago. It began in August 1984 with the aim to establish a network, to have contacts in the smaller regions as well as in Nelson. The Network offers FREE support, counselling and education for women, children and whanau for those affected by rape and/or sexual abuse. We also offer a 24/7 pager crisis telephone contact service which allows our pager holders to support women when they attend either the Police station for a statement or the hospital for a DSAC forensic medical examination. All of our staff are highly qualified, experienced and skilled at what they do. We also present our PASS (Personal Action for Sexual Safety) programme educational sessions at Secondary Schools in the Nelson/Tasman region and is regarded as a necessary component within the school curricular.
